The longtime painter knew he wanted to be a fine artist at 13.
After being evacuated in the Waldo Canyon fire in 2012, Weed returned
to his Mountain Shadows home and saw charcoal and ashes
covering the yard. He mixed them into paint and created the
project "Ashes to Art" a collection that chronicled the fire and its
destruction as well as the heroism of the first responders. "Love his
style and talent," said one voter.
