CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN ZOO
I'll be the first to admit it — at $250+/week, this is not the most affordable summer camp in the area. But you get what you pay for, I've learned — and at our zoo, you get a lot. Judging by the zoo's website, kids spend the summer feeding animals, preparing meals for them and learning how they survive in the wild. According to my highly imaginative child, he spends his summer “rescuing animals in the mountains” and “exploring underwater volcanoes.” If that's so, the cost is worth every penny.
