COLORADO SPRINGS PIONEERS MUSEUM
Could they reach 90,000, the most visitors ever in the history of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum? Toward the end of 2017 staff fingers were crossed and the ticker was ticking each time the door to the beautiful local-history museum opened. The last day of the year, the unexpected happened. A just-married couple was spending time together strolling toward their reception. The lovely old building was inviting, the admission free and they wandered in. Number 90,000 had just arrived and the couple was treated to a celebration and a tour up to the iconic clock tower overlooking the city. What makes this such a popular destination now, double the number of visitors since 2010? It's due in part to the popular interactive history of the region exhibit “Story of Us,” “Food Truck Tuesday” on the grounds and a wide variety of exhibits and children's activities. And newlyweds who just happen in.
