The beloved “Mom” of hockey for everyone

Expert's Pick

Doris "Mom" Donley

Doris Donley started out as a volunteer with sled hockey and has steered the disabled hockey program nationwide. As manager of Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association Tigers sled hockey, she helped develop the state's rules for the sport, at first the only hockey program for those with disabilities. Now she's that special volunteer making it happen for warrior, blind and special hockey, too, including the Colorado Avalanche's first Try Blind Hockey Day in 2018, where 50 blind players of all ages experienced time on the ice. The NHL and USA Hockey took notice, too, and just donated a first-design on-ice player bench from Athletica. Doris "Mom" Donley can't stop smiling. Her dreams keep coming true.
